Weight Management & Nutritional Counseling

In the United States today, overweight and obesity have become a serious problem. Excess weight in our abdomen can cause back strain, which is a major cause of work absenteeism and medical costs. Breathing difficulties, depression, and other medical conditions can all be related to too much body weight. Too much weight has a distinct negative effect on quality of life!
And the diet industry in America is a huge, multi billion-dollar enterprise. All too often, people will go on diets, lose some weight, perhaps even a lot of weight, but once the diet ends, the weight returns, sometimes even more than was originally lost. And this puts even more stress on our circulatory system, our backs and our overall health.
So, how do we end this cycle of weight loss and weight regain? How can we insure that weight, once off, stays off? After all, other harmful and destructive habits, like smoking for example, once ended are not needed to survive. One can live a perfectly normal and healthy life without ever touching another cigarette. Not so with food.
There are two components to succeeding at losing weight, and keeping it off. First, we must adjust our eating
h
abits. We must look at food not as a substitute for love, relationships, sex or any other factor that may be missing in our lives. Food is fuel. It can be enjoyed and savored but it is necessary to eat properly to enable our bodies to have adequate energy to function at their best. In any weight modification plan, it is essential that proper nutrition be addressed and the right type of diet be planned.
The second component is a mental and emotional adjustment. Earlier, I stated that food is not a substitute for the emotions or things we may be missing. But, how do we accomplish this?
Using hypnosis, it is possible to reframe an individual’s view of food and view of him or herself. While in a state of hypnotic trance, the hypno-therapist will offer suggestions to the patient to enable him or her to adjust their views towards food. If for example, the use of food is a method of easing pain, disappointment or loss, suggestions may be made to replace the comfort given by eating to something much less harmful and more constructive. At the same time, post-hypnotic suggestions are offered, in order to reinforce this new view towards eating and food. Imagining themselves in the future, having lost the weight they wish to lose, and seeing how good they look, and how well they feel and how strong they are can have a major effect on a person’s self-image. Seeing oneself at the weight desired is a powerful method of reinforcing the effort of achieving the goal of weight loss and management. And, suggestions can be given which may help a person to eat properly and wisely. Avoiding improper foods, or consuming less food are suggestions that, if properly made and reinforced, may well enable a person to change the habits of making unhealthy food choices and quantities of food. Instead they will make wiser decisions about what, when, and how much food to eat.
The results can be remarkable! Many people have found success with losing weight, and even more importantly, maintaining this weight loss for an indefinite period of time.

Hypnosis is an excellent tool to help with the goal of losing weight. Combined with proper nutritional guidance in choosing the right foods, foods that are healthy and nutritious, proper portion control and the best times to eat, it can be an excellent method of managing one’s weight and improving one’s lifestyle.
